Amelia, a vibrant child, loved her kitten and visiting the zoo. At the age of three she got diagnosed with leukemia. Her parents were devastated as Amelia endured painful treatments.
During her dark days, Make-A-Wish offered a glimmer of hope. Amelia's heartfelt wish was to be a zookeeper, fueled by her love for animals. The Miami Zoo granted her wish, and her family beamed with joy.
Amelia received a zookeeper uniform and explored the zoo with excitement. She fed giraffes, met a sloth, and cherished every surprise. The chimpanzees threw a party in her honor, even creating a fingerpainting gift. Amelia treasured it dearly. In the tortoise enclosure, the tortoises curiously approached her, mistaking her pink shoes for food. It was a delightful moment that capped off an incredible day.
Now in the maintenance phase of treatment, Amelia looks forward to completing it. Her wish inspired her family and brought relief to Amelia. They hope other struggling families receive the same impactful experience during their challenging journeys. "It meant so much to us to have something positive to look forward to.
