Sofia, 12, was born with Rett syndrome, a rare genetic condition that impairs brain development and makes her mute and unable to walk. Sofia's family describes her as a lovely little girl who enjoys fairy stories and the companionship of others.
Sofia's mother initially didn't think she could grant her daughter's wish when she first heard about Make-A-Wish from another mother she met at the hospital. Sophia and her family had an amazing trip made possible by Make-A-request, which resulted in her request to dance with her prince charming.
Sofia's wish involved a large number of individuals, including volunteers, city institutions, families with other children, teachers, and other friends. The young princess dressed up, boarded a horse-drawn carriage, and drove to the Barbieri Palace in Verona for the Grand Ball. Her Prince Charming welcomed her with tremendous appreciation and held her in his arms as they danced in a mystical setting brimming with happiness and festivity.
