As a child facing the challenges of cystic fibrosis, Ashley’s mental health was negatively impacted. She struggled with depression and anxiety. To uplift her spirits, Ashley’s parents suggested she join theater classes in school. Singing and acting were therapeutic for Ashley and great exercise for her lungs. She fell in love with musicals, and Disney
The Lion King - Musical was her favorite! When granted a wish, Ashley wanted to see “The Lion King” again, but this time on Broadway in New York City. " Seeing the show reminded me of the impact it had when I was younger and inspired me again.” Today, 26-year-old Ashley continues to draw motivation from her wish as she is working to be a film director and producer. She continues to Wish-It-Forward with her local chapter, and in reminiscing with fellow wish alumni, shared: “Make-A-Wish did something really special for us that really changed our lives. All of us agree that our wishes gave us that continued motivation to follow our dreams at a time when we were looking for hope or inspiration … and it continues to inspire me to this day.”
