Kids receiving treatment for critical illnesses often feel isolated, missing out on childhood experiences like birthday parties. Just ask Llomara. She battles a severe blood disorder that requires blood and platelet transfusions twice a week. Llomara has missed out on celebrating birthdays with family and friends as she has undergone tests and treatment. To help spread a little joy, her doctor referred her to Make-A-Wish so we could throw her the birthday party she longed for – and deserved. Her family, friends and community showed up and showed out for Llomara’s 10th birthday, determined to make it a huge success! “It was so wonderful to know that other people cared about my daughter, since I had always been the only one looking after her for so long,” Llomara’s mom, Ana said. “Make-A-Wish is real, and it gives hope.”
